2008 U13 Boys State Cup Finalist

The Waza FC Blue (95 Boys Blue) became the first Waza FC team to make it to the semi-finals and finals of the State Cup Tournament.

Waza FC Blue qualified for the quarterfinals by winning pool #7 with a 2-0-1 record.  Then they won the quarterfinal game with an impressive 4-1 victory over Vardar.  They followed that up with a 3-1 win over Vardar West, who had beaten a strong Wolves team the day before.

In the finals, Waza FC Blue had difficulty mounting a sustained attack against a strong Michigan Elite (Nova) defense.  But with about 5 minutes left in the game, the pressure finally paid off with a the only goal Nova gave up in the entire state cup tournament.  Waza continued the pressure and surely would have scored the tying goal, but time ran out.

As a State Cup finalist, Waza FC Blue now automatically qualifies to play in the Midwest Regional League next year as U14.

Congratulations boys!
